2025 Spring Synergy: Research Day

Brought to you by the College of Dentistry Office of ResearchContinuing Education, the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) — and supported by the Robert L. Kaplan Visiting Professorship Fund — Spring Synergy promotes the college’s many research accomplishments and provides a venue to learn through CE, and interact with the campus community, alumni and industry professionals.

  • 2025 Spring Synergy Date: Friday, April 11, 2025
  • 2025 Spring Synergy Location: J. Wayne Reitz Union
  • 2025 Transportation: Three Campus Connector shuttles will run continuously from 7:30-8:30 a.m. from the RTS bus stop on Center Drive, just south of the HPNP loop, to the Reitz Union. Please note there will be no return shuttles.
  • 2025 Abstract Submission Deadline: March 5, 2025 at 5 p.m.

Call for Abstracts & Guidelines

The University of Florida College of Dentistry Office of Research is now accepting abstract submissions for poster presentations at the Annual Spring Synergy on April 11, 2025, at the Reitz Union.

We welcome poster presentations from:

  • Undergraduate/pre-dental students
  • Current DMD students
  • Master’s degree candidates and residents
  • Ph.D. students
  • Postdocs
  • Faculty and staff

Accepted abstracts should fall into one of the following categories:

  • Clinical Research
  • Basic Science
  • Educational Research

The Office of Research will award travel grants to the first and second-place winners in the following categories: Undergraduate/Pre-Dental, DMD, MS/Residents, PhD/Postdoc, and Faculty/Staff. In addition, one of our DMD presenters will be chosen for the prestigious SCADA award (Student Competition for Advancing Dental Research and its application).

Timeline

  • Abstract Submission Deadline — Wednesday, March 5, 5:00 PM
  • Abstract Confirmation — Presenters receive an abstract confirmation once the abstract has been submitted through form.
  • Event Information — Presenter details and event-day guidelines will be provided one week before the event.

Guidelines

  • We welcome and encourage the submission of newly developed abstracts, as well as those recently presented at other conferences
  • Abstract text is limited to 300 words (2,500 characters) or fewer.
  • Abstract titles should follow AP style: Capitalize the first letter of each word except for prepositions and articles. Italicize scientific names of organisms.
  • Each author should be listed as follows: first name, middle initial (if desired), and last name.
  • Abstracts must include objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Applicants must select their abstract research area from the following categories: Basic Science, Clinical Science, or Educational Research.
  • The UFCD Office of Research will publish accepted abstracts in the event program, which can be reported as a published work
