2019 Spring Edition

Spring Synergy 2019

Spring Synergy is an annual event coordinated by the Office of Research, UF Continuing Dental Education, and the American Student Dental Association. During the event, students and faculty were able to attend a presentation by Kaplan Scholar Dr. Nico Geurs, as well as keynote presentations by Dr. Josephine Esquivel-Upshaw and Dr. Edward Chan. We had 57 poster presentations and 11 oral presentations from students, faculty, and staff which were evaluated by a team of judges. Judges selected awardees for 1st and 2nd place. During the event, ASDA hosted a vendor fair with over 20 vendors, as well as a lunch for attendees to enjoy.
Thanks again to all who participated to make Spring Synergy a success. We hope everyone who attended had a great time. A special thanks to our keynote speakers Dr. Esquivel and Dr. Chan, who both did a wonderful job!

Eight students, all of whom also participated in the 2018 Summer Research Program, will be presenting at the International Association for Dental Research event in Vancouver, Canada. The General Session will take place in June.

One of the students, Carson Smith, was selected to participate in the Junior Hatton Competition. He was one of only nine students chosen from the American Association. Winners of the AADR Hatton Awards Competition, in each category, will be announced at the Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday June 19, 2019 at 5 pm. Each winner will then go on to compete in IADR Unilever Hatton Awards Competition which will be held later in the week during the IADR/AADR/CADR General Session conference in Vancouver, Canada. Congratulations, and the best of luck to everyone who will be attending!
