For more information, or to schedule a speaker, please contact the Office of Research at 352-294-5440.

Requesting a Speaker

All UFCD Faculty, Students and Staff are eligible to nominate a speaker. Requests for speaker approval should be submitted to Denise Webb in the Office of Research with a letter that addresses each of the required criteria below and also includes the following information and attachment(s):

• Proposed title for the seminar

• Brief description of the topics to be covered

• Brief description of the target audience

• Proposed date for the seminar

• A current CV for the speaker

The request will be forwarded to the UFCD Research Committee for review and approval, although in some cases approval may be granted by the Associate Dean for Research without review. No more than two speakers will be scheduled in one month. No more than two speakers will be approved for a given faculty member sponsor in a one year period.

Selection Criteria

• The speaker should be nationally or internationally recognized for their research achievements.

• The speaker and topic should enhance the UFCD research mission and be of interest to a substantial audience. Interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary topics that may attract a diverse audience are strongly encouraged.

Continuing Education

As part of the UFCD mission of service to the dental community, we are able to offer continuing dental education credit, at no charge, to both the speaker and the attendees of the Distinguished Scientist Lecture Series. To comply with ADA CERP guidelines for issuing Continuing Dental Education credit, approved speakers must supply the following information in addition to the items identified in the previous section:
